RAK Gas seeks geological mapping consultant for oil blocks 4 & 5 in Malawi

RAK Gas is looking for a consultant to carry out geological mapping of blocks 4 & 5 in Malawi.

The company has been allowed to continue exploration following a review of licences and contracts. Contracts were signed 8 days before the last election and the Anti-Corruption Bureau has confirmed ongoing investigations into payments made by RAK Gas to Joyce Banda’s Mudzi Transformation Trust, among others. Government is currently negotiating an addendum to the agreements, given serious weaknesses in the fiscal terms and that they were signed against the advice of the Solicitor General adn behind the backs of senior civil servants. Block 4 also covers Lake Malawi National Park, one of Malawi’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
