Malawi’s “Voice of the Mineral Sector in Malawi” is the quarterly Mining Review, founded in 2009 and edited by Marcel Chimwala. As of August 2014, the Mining Review will be produced monthly.
The Mining Review aims to create awareness on mining issues in Malawi, which is traditionally an agricultural country. The quarterly is sponsored and supported by the Malawian government and interested companies from the extractive industries in Malawi.
Chimwala is a journalist with over 14 years of experience covering Malawi’s mining, engineering and construction news. He writes for Creamer Media’s Mining Weekly and Engineering News and founded Marcs Media in 2009. He previously had a stint with state run Malawi News Agency while still stringing with various media houses including US’s Mining and Engineering Journal and SA’s Energy in Africa.
Since the Mining Review currently does not have a website, we are privileged to be able to post the articles on Mining in Malawi. This will be done after the print and electronic editions are circulated. These articles will be under “Mining Review” on the category list on the left-hand column of the Mining in Malawi blog homepage. We will post articles from the recent Special Edition in the next few days.
The print edition is available at various outlets in Malawi’s major cities and towns including supermarkets at Total Filling Stations and leading bookshops, and is also distributed through a network of vendors. More copies are distributed to various offices for the government, companies in the extractive industries, financial institutions, donor agencies and non-governmental organisations that deal in mining issues.
The print edition can also be delivered to your office in Malawi on request. If you would like to receive an electronic copy of the Mining Review, please email Marcel Chimwala directly on [email protected] or [email protected].
