Malawi is reviewing its Mines and Minerals Act (1981). Professor James Otto has submitted a draft amended bill to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining at the beginning of 2015. In response, the Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) has released a call for a consultant to audit the draft bill “to ensure the bill promotes inclusiveness and accountability in the mining sector and upholds principles of human rights and sustainable development”.
This activity falls under CEPA’s two-year project “Strengthening Mining Governance in Malawi, which is funded through the Tilitonse Fund.
CEPA has asked consultants to submit their technical proposals and detailed budget by 13 March 2015. 10 working days have been allocated for this audit. Submissions should be sent to [email protected]
