Tomorrow the Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining will hold a symposium in Lilongwe to review the draft of the first ever Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Policy. Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining, Hon. Atupele Muluzi, is expected to be the guest of honour. Relevant stakeholders in the minerals sector are encouraged to attend to give their input as the policy drafting process is in its final stages.
The Symposium, themed “Unlocking Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Opportunities for Socio-Economic Development in Malawi”, starts on Tuesday 11 November at 08:00 and will conclude on Wednesday 12 November at the Golden Peacock International Conference Centre in Lilongwe. The event will include discussions on the draft and an exhibition of small scale mining products, mining equipment and financial products.
The Symposium has been organised by the World Bank, European Union, the United Nations Development Program, FDH Bank and PACT Malawi.
