Job Advert (3 Positions): ActionAid Malawi Responsive Mining Governance Project

2013-10-30 ActionAid Jobs MiM

In April 2013, Mining in Malawi blogged that Tilitonse, a grant-making facility for Malawian-based CSOs jointly funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), Royal Norwegian Embassy and Irish Aid, launched a Thematic Call for Project Proposals: Local Governance, Mining, and Access to Information. ActionAid in conjunction with Citizens for Justice have been awarded funding through Tilitonse and started to implement the Responsive Mining Governance Project.

In today’s edition of The Nation, ActionAid has advertised for three positions for this project based in Lilongwe: Project Coordinator, Project Finance and Administration Officer, and Project Officer.

The job advert describes the project as follows:

The project intends to promote transparency and accountability in the mining sector for equitable and sustainable development in Malawi. The project was developed through the realization that Malawi’s current mining legislation is deficient in several aspects. Thus the role of CSOs [civil society organisations] and local communities in influencing formulation and implementation of responsive mining governance laws cannot be overlooked.

Applicants should send: cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact names and details of at least three traceable references (one must be current employer).

Applications (clearly marked with position applying for) can be sent to: The HROD Manager, ActionAid Malawi, P.O. Box 30735, Lilongwe 3, or by email to recruitment.malawi@actionaid.org. The deadline is 13 November 2013.

For more information on this 2-year project, pick up today’s edition of The Nation.
